Con Edison Distributes Dry Ice to Residents in Eastern Queens

While Con Edison crews work to restore electric service to residents in eastern Queens affected by interruptions caused by intense heat and humidity, the company is distributing dry ice to customers in the area.

Bags of dry ice are being distributed at the Queens County Farm Museum, 7350 Little Neck Parkway in Glen Oaks. Con Edison personnel are at the site to answer customer questions. The distribution will take place until 9 p.m. or supplies run out.

For residents picking up dry ice, instructions for safe handling and disposal are printed on the paper bag containing the ice. Dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide and should be used only in well-ventilated areas. Keep children and pets safely away.

Con Edison continues to urge all customers in southeast Queens to discontinue their use of non-essential electrical appliances and equipment until problems on electrical cables can be resolved. The utility is experiencing equipment problems in this area and customer cooperation will help ensure uninterrupted electric service.
